ACTIVE RELEASE TECHNIQUE
What is Active Release Technique® (ART)?
Active Release Technique is a highly effective manual technique.
Basically, we take your muscle through its full range of motion while we apply longitudinal tension to the muscle at the same time. This applies an aggressive stretch to the muscle and ensures the muscle is moving freely. We apply this technique to individual muscles to ensure the muscles are moving and working independently of each other. We free up nerves, tendons and ligaments in the same way.
Many therapists believe in breaking up scar tissue or getting rid of scar tissue all together. Both of these beliefs are myths. What Active Release Technique can do is make sure the scar tissue is moving with the muscle instead of restricting the movement and binding the muscle back.
Active Release isn’t just a tool in our tool box …..it is the tool of choice. Tracy’s manual treatment has been exclusively Active Release Technique for the last 22 years. This makes Tracy one of the most experienced ART providers in the Ottawa area.
The most impressive thing about Active Release Technique is that it is very effective. If we are able to fix you, we will fix you quickly. Ideally we schedule several sessions very closely together for maximum results and then send you on your way.
We are huge believers in keeping you moving. We are athletes and understand what it means to stop training. We rarely tell you to stop. Why? If we fix you while you are not active, what happens when you get back to training? On the other hand, if we fix you while you are active, we KNOW we’ve got you sorted.
